Lovey Dovey

Memorial day weekend is here and David's family decided to go on a trip. I couldn't go for several reasons but mainly I'm in school and I have class EVERY day. So I told him "you should go and have some fun." He left this morning and now I'm sitting here thinking "What was I thinking?!" Haha no I wanted him to go, the biggest plus side will be this particular blog entry. Usually when I write on here he reads over my shoulder mainly because he is curious but he often corrects my punctuation and grammar as well (kind of drives me crazy but I need it). Well it's no fun to brag about someone on a blog post if they are reading it over your shoulder, so now that he is not here it's time to brag a bit.

Ten things I like about David

1. He is so thoughtful and kind! I can't even name how many times he has brought up my comfort over his. Many times he will remember me saying something in passing and then he will act on it (so cute!). Not only that but he doesn't point out my flaws in a demeaning way he is kind an courteous which makes me want to be a better person.

2. He likes to just BE with me. There are many times where we don't even have to talk but he doesn't mind spending time with me even if we are doing nothing.

3. He is smart! David received his bachelor's in Chemical Engineering in 4 years, the average time most people get it is 6 years, and he graduated high school with a 4.15..... wow! I know he's too smart for me but he seems to love me anyways and he has been so helpful and patient with me and my homework since I went back to school this spring.

4. He picks me over just aout everything and everyone else. That might sound obsessice but it's not. the fact that he is willing to choose me first makes me want him to be happy too, and I have foudn that I am not nearly as high strung or controlling as I thought I was (or was told I was).

5. He likes to hold my hand, put his arm around me and all that mushy stuff. All those simple little touches don't seem like much but they mean so much. I love it when we are sitting at church or in the car and he squeezes my hand. Not only that but if I say anything about my back, leg, arm or anything else is hurting he is immediately trying to figure out where and fix it for me.

6. He is always so warm! Haha to be more accurate he is always hot. That is one of my more favorite little things about him. If my hands are cold I just put them on his neck. It took me a while to realize that he really did like that and he wasn't just pretending like he did to make me happy. (opposites attract)

7. He heads straight for me first wherever we are. I mainly like this because it makes me feel important but really I'm the same way with him so it's nice to have so much in common.

8. He let's me pick: where we eat, where we play, what we do. Because he is so thoughtful I find myself wanting to be more and more thoughtful as well, it really is a great habit to get into.

9. He listens to me. If I tell him something in passing he remembers. This part is silly but I think it's so sweet that he is willing to do it, David let's me pick out his clothes. We girls just love to give fashion advice and he is willing to listen to it. Two thumbs up David!

10. He is cheerful. David just doesn't get mad. This is a challenge for me as a girl and with my personality. I can be such a brat! His example has helped me a lot and I feel like I control myself better.

What more can I say? I love the Boy! I think recently the best thing he did was decide that he wanted to wait to get married so we could get married in the temple. It doesn't sound like a big deal but it really was. David and I have both been through a lot when it comes to relationships, so to finally find someone else who is willing to put in their 100% and then be told to wait 6 months to marry them was really difficult for us. I am glad that he gave it the proper amount of thought, prayer, and fasting to come to his conclusion. He's been gone for less then a day and I already wish I could see him, I don't know how we are going to go 2 months without seeing each other but it will be worth it.

Happy Birthday Colin!

This time a year ago at 7:11 am I had my first baby. I still can't even believe it has been a year. The whole ordeal just feels like another time and place (another life?). It's crazy how excited I am for Colin, his family has blessed his life and mine more then I could ever imagined.
It's still difficult at times but only because I want to have my own kids. Colin never really was mine. I read a journal entry yesterday from May of last year and in it I wrote that I felt a lot more like Colin's sister then his mother. When he got here I can remember feeling very close to him but I also remember feeling VERY strongly that he just wasn't mine. If you haven't ever given a baby up for adoption you will probably never understand but it was very profound. Another thing that I read and I remember was having the song "I am a Child of God" stuck in my head all the time while I was pregnant with Colin. Boy isn't that the truth! We are both Children of God, and so is everyone else. It was experiences like this and KNOWING that Colin's family was the right one that got me through that last struggle before he went home. I am so thankful for Colin and that experience.

Man-ly Decorating

This is David helping me decorate. Notice the wedding arch and the daffodil flower chain, VERY Man-ly if I do say so myself.

Vote YES!

Ok so I have a LOT of political opinions and I feel like I go right to the source to get them, HOWEVER, I don't usually share or try to rub it in other people's faces. But this is something that I feel is really important for our particular community. Tomorrow is a chance for everyone in school district #91 to vote on a bond to rebuild schools and other facility things. David's Mom is on the school board and I have been able to hear many inside things about how education in Idaho and Idaho Falls is funded (very poorly). I'll admit that I voted against the last bond mainly because of the $Dollar$ amount (it was HUGE!). I have come to the conclusion that it needs to be done. I don't really think very many people read my blog and this post is definitely last minute but you never know. Here are a couple of reasons-

1) Funding for buildings is ONLY done through bonds in Idaho so no bond= no funding.
2) The average cost of the bond will only add $50-70 in taxes.
3) District #91 is debt free as of this year. The "NO NEW DEBT" signs are really misleading. Think of it in terms of cars. When your car gets too old you get a new one even if you paid it off. A broken car won't get you anywhere. Well our school facilities are pretty bad, not terrible, but they DO need some serious work.
4) Everyone always talks about combining school districts because Idaho is heavy with them BUT if we were to combine with #93 right now we would be in debt for their buildings and our would still be old.

http://www.d91.k12.id.us/ this is the school district website for anyone who is curious what the bond covers. And there are MANY other things that we as Idahoans need to know on this other website http://raiseyourhandidaho.com/

I don't know if that's informative to anyone but you should really think twice about it before voting.
Ok I'm done pushing my opinions on you :)

Mother's Day

This post is going to be late but I don't care. I tried to fit it in on Sunday but I didn't have time to type it up. The posts I made were already half typed and all I had to do was finish them. I love mother's day. I have never gotten my Mother anything amazing for mother's day but I really probably should.

Last year I typed up some reasons why I love my mom so I don't want to repeat by typing another list. So instead I'm going to try and tell you some of the things I thought of this Mother's day (hopefully I won't wander too badly). After having Colin I think I have a whole new prespective on Mom's in general. Normally a Mom does two things for us, 1) They create us or give us physical life and 2) They give us their life, and by that I mean time, love, engergy etc. For now I have only been able to do the first half of that but I definitely look forward to being able to do both. I have never had a more difficult decision but I have never been more happy with the outcome either. This way we both get to live our lives fully. I love getting pictures of him and bragging about how cute he is! There is no cuter baby. Not only that but I am so thankful for Colin's Mom. I'm glad I found her and I'm glad she was ready to raise him the way he should be.
Now for a little on my Mama. I love her so much. I've never had a better example. She just loves everybody. She's always so sweet and nice, but she makes me look like such a brat! Hah let's just say someone knew I would have to learn how to be sweet and they knew it wasn't going to come from my Dad (jk I love you Dad). I have watched her go through many trials, most especially having cancer, and it seems like they only humble her more. Not only that but she's always smiling. That's probably where I learned it. My Mom was always good for a pick-me up or a note saying "I love you!" left in random places. I just hope I can be as close to my children as she is. I know they say the best parents aren't friends but my Mom was both. I always knew I could turn to her but I also knew she wasn't going to let me get away with anything. I love her.
You can't see her face in this first one but I still really really like this picture.
My Mama with me, my Brothers, and Suzy.
I hope I didn't ramble or wander too badly it was diffuclt to decide how I wanted to say what I had to say. My main point, Mother's day is the best!
