Just a small Journey

David and I were married on July 12th, 2010. The next day we drove down to Salt Lake to catch our flight. This is where the adventure begins. We had already driven 217 miles just to get to Salt Lake City but every flight we were on had a layover. There was no other way to fly without spending over $1,000 for each of us. After this last week there is no way you could tell me that the airlines are hurting. Each airline we used made at least $100 for our bags, and we had to use 3 different airlines to get where we were going, Frontier, Southwest and American.

Anyways, from SLC we went to Denver which is 372 miles and about 1 hour.

Layover in Denver= 2 seconds ( we had to run like crazy people to make our connection, WHEW!)

Denver, Colorado -> Detroit Michigan airport 1,139 miles  2 hours and 25 min. (which is actually in Romulus Michigan)

You can't fly into the Toledo airport because it is EXPENSIVE it's a lot like trying to fly into Idaho Falls, it's usually less money to just fly into the next biggest airport and drive the rest of the way to your destination. And that is where we ended our second night as a married couple. The next morning we still needed to get up and drive to Toledo which was another 47 miles and 53 minutes away.

I'm only going to guess our mileage in Ohio because we drove around plenty looking at housing all together it was about 50 miles.... I think.

Then it was back to Detroit (Romulus) +47 Miles & 53 minutes to fly again.

Detroit -> Baltimore, Maryland 397 miles & 50 minutes.

Baltimore -> Ft. Lauderdale, Florida 930 miles, 1 hour and 50 minutes.

David and I were only in Florida for one night and I had to have some skyline chili because there isn't one in Toledo Ohio... What?! I know right, I finally move to Ohio and there's no Skyline Chili, frick. Skyline Chili run +7 miles. (David is so good to -me big smile :D )

Then we went on a 7 day cruise which added 2,052 miles and 3 countries!

And then back to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida -> Dallas, Texas 1,102 miles 2 hours and 12 minutes.

Dallas -> Salt Lake City, Utah!!!! 999 miles and 1 hour

Then we had to an errand to run down in Provo because we knew we wouldn't be able to do it when we move to Ohio. SLC -> Provo 45 miles 51 minutes.

Provo, Utah to Idaho Falls, Idaho aka Home sweet home, +255 miles, 3 hours and 54 minutes!!

Whew! Anyone add it all up? Just in case you didn't our total mileage (approximately) is 7,659 miles. Our travel time was 19 hours and 8 minutes but that time is mainly just flight time because it took us 3/4 days to drive those 50 miles in Ohio, I'm not going to add that to the total because between the cruise excursions and all the other random times we did stuff there are many more minutes miles and hours but I'm already tired from adding up what I have.  Traveling was so exciting and fun but man it wears a person out! I don't know what the stats are exactly for David but this "small journey" added the states Colorado, Michigan, Maryland, and Texas to my list. Also I had never been out of the country before either and I got to add 3 countries to my list all in one week- Georgetown, Mexico and Honduras.

Back

Yup I'm back, but only for about 2 weeks then it's back to Ohio for 4 years. I'm hoping to get some awesome pictures of our cruise up here soon but it might not happen. There's so much going on but I'm not feeling like writing more than that for today, ok that's all.

Real Quick

I'm finally married! Hurray! And things worked out so we were able to get married on July 12, 2010! That was my Great-Great-Grandma's wedding anniversary July 12, 1910 so it really means a lot to me. I can't believe how amazing everything is turning out, David and I are so happy together.We will have to wait on my paper work but in the meantime we can go to the temple together and move on with our lives. And maybe in a year we can get married in Nauvoo like I've always dreamed of, who knows we will see. Also before our reception we are planning on having our family and close friends go to a session with us at the temple so that will be special.We are in Toledo right now trying to look at places to live, ugh it's a chore but I am definitely excited. Today was an especially hot muggy day so that was fun (no really so fun). I'm not going to be on again for about 1 1/2 weeks but I figured I would update everyone and say hi , David says hi too. I'll get some wedding pictures up soon and some bridals too.

Dentist

Yesterday I went to the dentist. Over the years I'm going to have to say I have grown less and less fond of every new dentist I have had. I have come to the conclusion that the dentist that pulled most of my teeth when I was really young was a VERY good dentist. My second favorite was one I had when we first moved to Idaho Falls, haha who just so happens to be my bishop now. That's where the good ends and the bad begins. Ever since the site switched to their new HMO (2003-ish?) style stuff I haven't been very pleased. Then while I was living on my own I went to Skyline dental and they were awful! I went in to get a tooth filled once and they had to shoot me up 5 times, 5 TIMES!! Ugh it was awful I was numb for more then a day after. Yesterday they had to give me two shots and I was on the gas stuff. Thank goodness for it. The last time they didn't give me any gas I went home and the next morning my muscles everywhere were sore! I had been holding my body so tense that my muscles were sore for a couple of days. 

Back in the day, nope I don't miss those things at all.

 And none of this is to say I have very many cavities because I don't but my dentists aren't very good so I have had to get them "fixed" or in other words, "hey so remember when we filled your cavity? Yea so we didn't fix it all the way so now we are going to take the old one out and put in a new one, is that going to be ok with you?" No actually it's not ok, but with the 6 years and two sets of braces I had on top of surgery to bring my canines in I would die if I had to wear dentures, have a root canal, lose a tooth, or get caps. After all that hard work years and years of pain once every 6-8 weeks at the orthodontist I can honestly say I like my smile, I'm even a little vain about it, it was a lot of work. Can you blame a girl? No, no you can't. This is the part where I will wrap up my ramblings (yay she does have a point!) Minus me going in to get my teeth cleaned, I have decided, I don't like the dentist. 

TV

Lately my family has taken to watching the shows Pickers, and Pawn Stars. I also really like these two shows, (Pawn Stars is better) but I realized that they are basically the "new/ cool" version of another show everyone used to like, Antiques Roadshow. They are definitely very similar, but here are my top three reasons why #1. Random people bring in random things. #2. Everyone wants to know how much it's worth and #3. All the stuff is old, or valuable or it's a fake and it just looks it. That's basically what happens on both of these shows. Except on Pickers they go out to find the "antique items".


Along with the subject of TV, something that really bothered me the other day was a commercial about a whitening toothpaste. It went like this "Young lady goes in for a casting call (or something like it) and the older lady tells her she looks/ is great but she needs to whiten her teeth. The older lady then goes on to say "no coffee, blueberries, soda etc all that junk that makes your teeth nasty for the next 2 weeks. So then it shows the younger lady going off and doing everything she was told not to. When she goes back to the office for her second interview or whatever the older lady is like "wow your teeth look great, those rules really work huh?" (or some thing to that effect). Now is it just me or is that like the worst commercial ever?? I felt so irritated afterwards, and I totally could care less about the whitening tooth paste! All that commercial says is "you can do whatever you want and take the easy way out." And really how difficult is it to avoid certain foods for 2 weeks? I don't know maybe it is just me but when the commercial was over I was all in a tizzy. But I guess that just goes to show what our world is today, "do whatever you want whenever you want, lie, be dishonest, don't follow rules, take the easy way out."

This is why I never watch TV I hate commercials and I dislike most celebrities, but also I don't want to see anymore then EXACTLY what I want to watch, thank goodness for the 30 sec commercials on Hulu and commercial free viewing on Netflix.

Sometimes, I think

So lately I have noticed that if I think of something interesting that I should blog about I will start blogging in my head, is that geeky? This happens several times a day besides. Then it never gets up here because I never remember my great idea by the time I get on here to blog about it. Also I apologize for not reading the private blogs as much because I usually check blogs on my itouch and it's too time consuming and annoying to have to log into and its small. On another subject you know all the joking lately that people say about blog stalking? I'm a blog stalker, hah, I found myself reading through someones blog the other day and I had NO idea who she was and we had NO friends in common or even friends of friends. I can only think of a couple of ways that the someone else blog stalking my blog would bother me, but they don't bother me enough to make my blog private, so I guess I must not really care. Anyways if you stalk my blog you should leave a comment because I'm curious. I guess that is all, sorry I don't think very often so this post is short.

Random note- 5 days until I get married!!! Hurray! And this time next week I will be in Ohio with, drum roll........ my new Hubby!

Melting like a popsicle on the 4th of July

 

Wow what a great 4th! Or should I say 2nd/ 3rd? Haha either way it was way fun. David's dad side of the family came up from Utah (David's dad is the oldest of 8 so there's a lot of them) it was such a blast! It made me miss the 4th of July celebrations we used to have when my Dad's side of the family was younger, there were little kids every where it was just so crazy fun. We all went to the big block part that David's parents court puts on every year. We had some good good polish dogs, snowcones, ice cream, and cotton candy! Yummy yummy. David's cousin Abbey and I made David get his face painted, that was a hoot! Abbey is 8 and she is sooo darn cute!! I had a cloud a moon and stars on my face and David had a sun and a cloud (ahhh we matched so priceless). I would have taken a picture but my camera battery decided to bail out on my so I didn't get any... Very disappointed you will just have to imagine the image of David, Abbey and I with face paint in your head. David's family does fireworks every year too so I got to light off some fireworks for the first time in about 3 years (Me=pyro) haha I even burnt my hand and I could smell my burning flesh! Now that's fun! Am I right?

David helped set up the fireworks on the 1st, 2nd, and the 3rd from 8-5pm and he was getting all of us excited by telling us how big all the ammo was. He was supposed to finish at 11am on Saturday but he worked until almost 7pm. That was a bummer because he wasn't able to go to my family's BBQ before the fireworks. When I showed up to my family's BBQ everyone was like "Hey where is your better half, we know you already! we want to see David!".... gee thanks guys. I have to admit it was a great show and it's the biggest one we have had so far.  I like being around David's family, because I'm the "new one" everyone wanted to be around me especially all the little girls and they were so cute and fun to be around. I was like the new toy :)

I managed to finish my 4th of July blanket just in time too! I quilted differently then I have ever quilted a blanket before so I was pretty proud of myself.

I have four little blue stars and one big one in the center. Because both sides of the quilt are basically jean fabric my fingers were soooo red after trying to pull a needle through both layers, oh well whose complaining it turned out good and maybe I'll have some calluses for the next one.

AND last but not least the binding, once again it was a tough job because the jean fabric was so thick! I had to pin every 3-4 inches to keep it all in place! But I was really happy with the out come.

I think my favorite part is that the blue and red are checkered! It's a really cool effect and it was pretty simple to do. Last words- It was worth it, and I got to sit with my baby and watch the fireworks!
