Family of Four

He has always been such a pretty baby and now he is turning into such a handsome boy! David hates it when I call him pretty, but it is totally true. Plus I'm his mom so I can say whatever I want.
Family of four!
David doesn't like these, or any picture with him in it, but I love to see my little babies in his arms. It's super cute.
Usually I make sure all the pictures are in order. Not this time! I decided to splice and mix them all up. It's nice not to have 5 of our family and then 5 of just Macy. I might reorder them like this more often.
One of my favorites
We had to bring Davie back into the room for this and I was a little worried he wouldn't pose/ behave but he did so great! He was all happy, smiley and downright adorable.
David insisted on doing one where he held Macy with one arm/ hand. We tried to do a nice one like this with Davie, but it didn't really work out.
So sweet.
I LOVE this picture, it captures Davie so well. Basically he got away from David while our photographer was trying to take family pictures. Davie loves people so he was going to go talk to her, but also escape off the bed.
Macy has the longest skinniest little fingers.
Davie has started to give BIG hugs, or as we call them squeezy hugs.
This is the blanket my aunt made for me almost 5 years ago! Haha I knew I would have a girl eventually :)
These pictures were tough for Davie.
I love my little boy.
This blanket is from my other aunt, very pretty.
Best BUDS!
Blanket from Nana.
I love having pictures right after I have a baby so I can remember, but I seriously HATE my face. There I said it. I just really dislike how chubby and fluffy looking my face gets and there is no way around it. It stems from the fact that normally I have a round babyface that I kind of dislike so after a baby it's worse.
Baby toes
I love the colors in this one they are so soft and pretty.
Both of my babies! Together!
I do like this picture a LOT though.
*tiny lips*
I was not sure if any of these pictures were going to work out. The look on Davie's face cracks me up. It's like "ok I laid down, I'm done now".
I love how she looks like a doll, but it's also a little crazy because she almost doesn't look like a living breathing baby! She really just looks like a plastic baby doll.
BIG yawn.
Another good picture, that I don't love my face in.

Close Your Eyes

I realize how far behind I am on blogging and I wish it wasn't so.
I read a very sweet post on my friend's blog the other day about when she had her daughter and it got me thinking about an experience I had about a week after I had Macy.
One afternoon while my mom was visiting Davie was putting up the usual fight against his nap time while my mom was trying to put him down. For some reason I felt like the last couple days had been extra bad and Davie was resisting nap for almost an hour before he finally gave in. I personally was feeling a little guilty that all I was doing was feeding Macy and rocking her while my 2 year old screamed and cried from the other room. So I told my mom she could have a break while I gave it a go. Davie gets extra busy right before he crashes and that day this was especially true.
So I did what I have always done ever since he was tiny when he gets hysterical. I folded one of his blankys in a triangle swaddled him, cradled him and sat down in the chair in his room.
He struggled as usual, but I managed to get him to calm down a little and then asked him if I should sing some songs. I sang a song or two but Davie's eyes were still wide open so I told him if he wanted me to sing another song he needed to close his eyes. It was a long shot but I figured anything would help at this point. Surprisingly Davie immediately closed his eyes tight and I began to sing some more primary songs, as he would try to open them back up I would stop singing and again tell him to close his eyes and he would.
About that time I got looking at him and all his sweet little features that have changed so much and how big he is and I was trying my best to keep singing without crying profusely. These weren't quite tears either I was trying not to let my chest shake so much it would wake him up, because he had literally gone to sleep in less than five minutes from the first time I told him to close his eyes. This was also when I started laughing because I could not believe how quickly telling him to close his eyes got him to go to sleep. Davie is such a silly boy! So my body is half shaking in laughter and half in tears as my little boy slept in my arms.
I managed to pick him up and set him in bed and he napped very well that day. I was feeling silly for crying and laughing at the same time and didn't really want my mom to see. I don't like feeling as though the emotions I felt were purely related to hormones because this was not the first (or the last) time I have put Davie down to nap and found myself crying once he was asleep.
I love looking at him while he sleeps and watching him grow is such a bittersweet blessing but he will always be MY little baby.

Meeting Macy

I had Macy at Toledo Hospital and my mom had never been there. Luckily she was able to follow directions to the hospital with the pin I sent her. When she came she brought Davie and they both got there not even 30 minutes after I had her so it was great timing.
Meeting his new sister for the first time.
He wanted to hold her hand (he still likes to hold her hands).
All of us.
His cheesy little face makes me smile so much, he is so cute.
Our new family of 4!
Lauren came to visit on her lunch break, so we were all able to be in some pictures.
Me and my two babies.
He let me give him kisses.
She had that left eye closed and the right open almost the whole first hour after she was born. It was pretty cute.
This is her bulletin board!

Macy Hazel

Macy Hazel Warden was born on March 3, 2014.
She weighed 7 pounds and 1 ounce and was 19 and a half inches long at 12:17 pm.
We named her after my Great Great Grandma Macie and her daughter Hazel (my mother's grandma). Also if you can remember Macie's wedding anniversary is the same as mine and David's and we were married on their 100th year anniversary.
I'm going to try my best to make this a shorter post mainly because I want to be sure to post about this, but I also want to go to bed :)

My due date was February 28th and it came and went with no sign of baby. Although that was the day my mom flew into Detroit and for a while that (day and the day before) I was getting some different sensations that I thought maybe would lead to having a baby soon. No. I really wanted to have Macy in February since both my brothers already have birthdays in March, but no such luck. And for whatever reason that really got me irritated and am publicly admitting to being on the grumpy side for the next couple of days.

On Sunday we stayed at the house and I got several sewing projects finished that I've been trying to finish for MONTHS/ since Davie was a little baby (true story).
The underside of this black changing pad literally ripped off in the wash when Davie was about 4 months old, I've been thinking I'd fix it ever since.
The downside was I sat down way too long sewing and by the end of the day I was hurting and just like the last couple months before there really wasn't much I could do about it. I went to bed around 11 pm or 12 am and woke up around 1-ish am after having some weird sleep/ painful dreams. So I pulled out my phone and started trying to see if what I was experiencing was in fact contractions. Turns out I was and by 3 am I decided to wake up David and start heading out.

We arrived at the hospital around 4 am and by the time I was checked I was at 8cm. However, after going to bed late, months of being in intermittent pain I was already done. So I very vocally insisted that I didn't want to go O-Natural this time. By the time they got me some meds it was around 5am and I was at a 10cm. That was of course when everything slowed down (seemingly forever).
Me looking SUPER Glamorous after I got my epidural.
David said that me having an epidural made him feel an all new kind of useless because whether I go natural or not he didn't/ couldn't really do anything. In fact at one point I think he told me he was bored, it was funny. He also may have watched me put some makeup on at one point while I was in labor.... there's no need for me to look totally horrible the day I have a baby right? After my epidural basically nothing happened until about 10 am. That was when they wanted me to start pushing, but my contractions had gone to every 10 minutes apart, which meant I only pushed like 6 times in an hour. So they put me on a super small pitocin drip of 1. Things finally picked up but that was when the doctor came in and we figured out why our little miss was taking so long. Her face was sideways.
A little later after some napping I felt better.
When the doctor checked me he said "ok I'm going to be checking your tonsils now" and wow even with an epidural it felt like it. That was when I became so glad I had an epidural and didn't have to deal with a sideways baby naturally. He was not my usual doctor, but he was really nice and from the same practice. The doctor told me about that time that he wanted to use the vacuum, which definitely freaked me out. I recently read a story about a mom whose doctor detached the baby's head so of course that's all I was thinking about because it's totally logical.
Obviously nothing happened, in fact the doctor told me that as soon as he spun baby's head she came right out and they didn't need to use the vacuum at all. My epidural this time was different then my first and it worked better on my right then on my left, however it still worked enough that I was as comfy as I could be. And last, but not least I was very thankful that I did not tear and I did not need any stitches this time. Now I keep teasing that 3rd babies must be the charm :)
David caught her and that was pretty fun. I can't imagine having David catch a baby if I hadn't had an epidural because it's a must to have someone at your side when you are doing it naturally. Because David's OBGYN rotation was a rural area he was never able to deliver any babies and he wanted to deliver Macy so he can now say he has delivered at least one baby while in medical school.
I feel like this post is not nearly as organized or as sentimental as Davie's was but it was a great day. I have more pictures, but I'll have to share them later.
