Hypocrisy

Recently I have realized I am super annoyed when my friends don't update their blogs. I mean how am I supposed to know what's going on with them if they don't write blog posts? Or be entertained when my friends only update their blog once a month... then I realized I've been just as bad lately AND worse. It's been over 2 months since I updated on here and I'm ready to admit that it's not to lack of time. It's due to my desire to veg. So here is my promise to do better, at least for now.

So what is there to say? The kids and I have been in Idaho Falls for almost a month now. I bravely flew solo from Columbus. The saddest part about our vacation to family this year is that David will not be joining us. He has several bad rotations in a row between November and February. Our plan for a while now has been to come out for Christmas this year and since money was tight we realized quickly that would be our only visit during this year. The original plan was for the babies to come with me and david would join us and his family for Christmas (or Thanksgiving) however short of a time. Then David was given another Intensive Care Unit rotation, and several surgery rotations in a row and now we are in Idaho and he is and will be in Ohio. No visiting for him (BIG sad face).

So what's happened this year? I know we aren't to the end of the year yet but I'm so far behind on it all I might as well create a list re-cap. This list is not exactly in order, but almost.

1. We came home from Idaho in January 3 days late due to the polar vortex in Ohio.
2. I started my last school semester! And so did David!!
3. I experienced my first level 3 snow storm.
4. David's brother Brian and his wife Anna have their little boy! Our first nephew!
5. I had my 3rd baby and my 1st girl!
6. We found out that David matched, and that we were moving to Columbus this year and Orlando in 2015.
7. We watched a LOT of Veronica Mars and I procrastinated my 25 page thesis paper for a LONG time.
8. Macy has COLIC. (so much crying)
7. I graduated!
9. I added Georgia to my list of states visited.

10. David, Brian, Anna, Davie, Baby Brian, Macy and I all go to Disney World to PARTAY!
11. Then we go to New York.
12. I attended my first and second Broadway musical. AMAZING! One of theses days I will write more about that, it was my favorite part of the whole trip.
13. I add New Jersey to my list of states :)

14. David graduates medical school. WAHOOOOO!!
15. Macy gets blessed.
******WE SOLD OUR FIRST HOUSE!!!!!*****

Bonus we only had 3 people look at our place before we sold it. Thank goodness
because those viewings were ROUGH on us! Apparently we do no live life in show mode.
16. We move to Columbus
17. David's first rotation as a Pee-on is the ICU and it's basically horrible.
18. Macy STILLLL has COLIC!!!

19. Macy starts to crawl way earlier then expected and is super good at it.
20. David and I celebrate our 4 year anniversary, separately. So far our only tradition is to celebrate it separately. We are very romantic like that.

21. David's brother Mike and his wife Lauren have their baby! I now have TWO nephews!

22. Macy, Davie and I spend a TON of quality alone time together.

23. My least favorite rotation of David's is night float. Basically David works all night and then comes home and needs to sleep all day. It's horrible and I hate it. Also my kids are really loud.
24. We decide to start to potty train Davie. We took the 3 day approach and it works out REALLY well. It's been great.
25. Macy was waking up several times a night for about 4 solid months. Which left this mama way too tired way too often.
26. This leaves David and I super lazy and we spend most of our time together vegging out and watching Biggest Loser whenever we have free time.
27. Macy turns 6 months old and slowly starts recovering from her constant crying.
28. Davie is getting so BIG, talks so well, and can be so incredibly sweet.

29. We did nothing for Halloween, because we invited our friends over to play games. Then on actual Halloween (in Ohio they schedule what days communities get to trick or treat) it was horrible cold and rainy AND David and I just didn't want to deal with it. Grade A parents right here.
30. We all kissed David good-bye and got on an airplane to visit family for the next two months.

Annnnd there you have it! That's the basics of what has been going on around here. So admittedly even though I have been busy and lazy those are not the only reasons I have not been blogging. Can I just say right now that I almost never ever write a blog post that isn't thoroughly thought through first. This year I got comments on a post that were quite rude and most likely from someone who I'm honestly quite shocked even reads my blog still. I also got deleted as a friend by someone on Facebook after I wrote a VERY personal, VERY long (and in my mind well thought through, as in months before I finally published it) blog post. WOW. To say I was shocked was an understatement. And while I might like to think I have thick skin, I most definitely do not. Imagine how a punch in the face feels because that is what it felt like.
I write my blog for my family first and for my friends second. Without blogs and Facebook I would feel totally alone sometimes. For those of you who have never lived a long way away from family and close friends for longer than a year you have no idea the kind of joy silly things like blogs and Facebook can bring someone. I'll openly admit that I often imagine deleting my blog and Facebook accounts and then I remember that without those I would never know what is going on in the lives of people I care about. I LOVE seeing my friends babies, your new houses, the fun places you go and any and every other fun thing you post on Facebook/blogs. I fully enjoy knowing the things you are struggling with are the same as mine and lastly I just like feeling as though I still get to be a part of your life. Even if it's just in text on a screen, it means something and I enjoy it.

A Dream Day

Monday was just that, a Dream Day. I have seen several blog posts where moms will go through their whole day outlining what they did all day. You would think that the average person would find that boring but I love posts like that. It gives me clarity and a sense of "ok everyone is doing this" but also I just like knowing what other people do and what works. Raising kids is like herding cats so I'm all for hearing other people's ideas. And of course pictures from the day will be included, mostly from our trip to the park.
My new goal as of the beginning of this week is to not go to bed later than midnight, and not wake up later than 8:30 am. Waking up early is my DEAMON. Seriously I am a horrible night owl and Dracula in the morning. However my ultimate goal is in bed by 10:30/11:00 pm and up by 7:00 am. Davie is a night owl AND an early bird (it's a David thing trust me). Also David is on night float (my least favorite shift) which goes from 5pm to 7am, which means we then have to be quite while he sleeps all day. That poor man. We are loud, or I should say Davie is.

Monday-
(sometime before 7am)- Davie opens his door and acts like he is ready to start the day. I tell him to hop in bed with me thinking "this never works" but I'm still tired so into my bed he comes.

7:30ish am- David gets home and I realize Davie has actually been lying in bed, motionless and quiet with me the whole time. Miracles.

8:00 am- I finally manage to get myself up and get moving because now Macy is walking along her crib side spitting and jabbering away. I don't want to wake David up. Time to get Davie to take off his pull-up and go potty so we can put underwear and clothes on for the day. Crying ensues. Just like when I would change his diaper in the morning he really struggles with morning transitions underwear included. But I win.
8:15- We are downstairs Davie is still whining about everything and doesn't want to eat anything (that means he's hungry). I make an executive decision and it's eggs for breakfast. Davie cries the whole time I make them. "And I don't want eggs" is all he says over and over again. I think he wanted Jello this particular morning.

8:30 am- As soon as the food is set in front of him he gobbles it up. No whining. Its just how he is, but I've become an excellent "ignorer".

9:00 am- Breakfast is done and I am trying to feed Macy before we leave for 9:30 story time. I give Davie his shoes so he can put them on the correct feet and he just sits next to them on the rug... ugh hurry means nothing to him. By the time I show enough frustration that he decides to put them on he has jumbled them and he starts to put them on the wrong feet. This was the only time yesterday I felt my patience wearing thin. I pulled him over and we said a little prayer. He still took forever to put his shoes on, but he did it.
9:20 am- We leave 10 min late for story time. How does this happen even when I wake up on time???

9:35 am- We arrive at story time in time to introduce ourselves. This is baby story time so all the kids are 0-18 months. I prefer attending this one over the toddler one (room full of crazies!) but I try to go to both. Also there is a mom in this class with twin girls 14 months old AND a 5 week old baby girl. Super woman. And she made it to story time before us.
10:00 am- Story time ends and I let Davie go play with the train set they have in the library. He LOVES it. But of course they also have computers (because what kid doesn't get enough screen time nowadays) so I always tell Davie that if he starts to play on the computers too much we will leave. I look up a book check it out and put another one on hold. My eating habits have gotten so bad I decided to read this.

10:30 am- We leave the library. No tantrums, and everyone is in great spirits! I drive across the parking lot to pick up some groceries at Kroger. I love Kroger.
The outfit Macy was wearing she was referred to as "or whatever it is" in Kroger.
11:10 am- We leave Kroger. Again no accidents, tantrums or running away. EVERYONE is happy. I'm starting to get nervous that Davie will wet his underwear before we get home. Its a control issue with him (like every other potty training toddler) so unless he actually has to go or he's in an extra good mood he doesn't really do preparation-al pees. I have been taking our tiny green Ikea potty around for him so I pull it out, set it next to the car and have him go. I felt really weird, but seriously even adults don't like using public restrooms and they don't touch EVERYTHING like a toddler. He goes I dump it out clorox wipe it and we are off! I cannot believe my luck!!
11:30 am- Lunch... Mmm PB&J sandwich.

Noon- Time to put Davie down for nap, so books and songs. He goes down in 15 minutes! Again "whhhaaat?!"
Macy at the park hanging out in the grass.
Teeter totter!
12:30 pm- I text Laura (my friend) and tell her that I can meet for lunch at anytime. She is still planning on 1:30, but I was just glad for once that I am actually ahead of schedule. Macy and I hang out and play around on the floor for the next 30 minutes or so. I do my best to let her be busy because once I feed her and put her in her carseat I am REALLY hoping she will sleep while I am at lunch.
1:15 pm- I leave the house a little later than hoped. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but then I miss my freeway turn and I head East too far instead of going North. Every time I think I have directions figured out I suck. Since we are trying to be cheapskates we have the lowest data plan available on our phones (+$15 for us every month) and our GPS has decided it won't charge. I am so lucky I do not have to rely on learning signs to get places.
1:40 pm- I arrive to have lunch with Laura! It was super fun and we got to talk in peace and quite for 2 hours. Macy never makes a peep and David never calls from the house to tell me Davie has woken up early. Lunch rendezvous are great.
3:45 pm- I head home. I ran into a little traffic which made me nervous, the rush hour traffic here is HORRIFIC, but I made it back on time.
4:15ish pm- David leaves for his hospital shift. He has to check in at 4:45pm.
5:00 pm- I start to make some noodles for the sauce and meat we have for Davie's dinner. He eats.
5:45 ish- Davie finally finishes and we head to the park to play. I originally planned on getting our mail, but I have somehow misplaced my keys since Kroger. I found them on tuesdday, in the back seat, on the side of Davie's carseat, basically I locked them into my car no worries. What happens is I set them down to help Davie get out and then I forget, because Davie likes to run away. This scares me because he doesn't watch for cars. We play at the park for a least an hour, lots of running and screaming is involved.
7:00 pm- Bath time. I usually put Macy in a little mesh chair tonight I let her swim around with Davie. That was a lot of work. No major injuries though so it was fun.

The girls.
8:00 pm- I read to Davie after feeding Macy, who is now in her own bed. After books I sing primary songs and hymns... forever.

Naked bum.
8:30 pm- Davie is in bed. He isn't asleep, but he is settled, enough. I do chores in the bathroom, our upstairs bathroom is right next door to his room, until I know he is out. He took a long nap today so I can't totally blame him for not being super tired, but even if he took a short nap he would still take forever to put to bed. So really it's an average night.
She can stand and so thats all she wants to do. Only one problem, she is super slippery. Hence me holding her little hand.
This toothless grin is so amazing.
Please ignore the black mold in our tub. It totally creeps me out, but it was there when we moved in and even with tons of scrubby, harsh chemicals and a box fan running most days I can't get rid of it. (grumble)
9:00 pm- I think Davie is finally asleep. I do chores deep cleaned our bathroom floor, dishes, some laundry, took trash out, etc and I went through more of our things. I am trying to really push myself and purge things we don't need or use, hopefully I'll write more about that later.

Here Macy wear this hat.
Midnight- MY bedtime. Later than I had hoped, but of course Macy has woken up and I need to feed and change her. I feel so good about the day though that I don't care.
Super exciting I know, but there you have it! The biggest thing I loved about this day was how good I felt about Davie afterwards. He was such a good boy, I was just so proud of him! He is all boy and would be much better off if we lived in the olden days where little boys could run around on acres of land with the farm animals. Davie is just SO incredibly busy and most days we do not get out enough due to errands and chores. By get out I mean to the park or another place that HE specifically wants to go. So while the day wasn't stress free or easy per-say, I really enjoyed it and I was glad to see some scheduling actually work out.

He's 2 1/2

Here is another update that must be made. My BABY is two and a half.... that can't possibly be, he only turned two 7 months ago.... oh.
A balloon guy made him a sword at Skyline Chili.
Davie is a crazy child, he's neither sassy or submissive, more like stubborn. Over the last couple of months his new favorite thing to do (especially when he is tired or hungry) is throw ridiculous fits over (insert ANYTHING) and no matter what our answer is he is crying. Yes. No. Yes. No.

Me- Davie do you want me to read a book
Davie- (crying and whining) no! I don't want to read a book
Me- Ok
Davie- NOOOO! I want to read a book!!
Me- Ok, lets pick one out
Davie- NOOOO!

repeat. REPEAT. repeat. x100

It drives us nuts.

He would easily take a late afternoon nap if I let him, but he would then stay up until midnight EVERY night. Not interested kiddo sorry.

He can get the mailbox open all by himself!
Davie also loves to watch Gnomeo and Juliet, which makes me super happy because it's an adorable movie and I LOVE it. Watching it reminds me of bringing him home from the hospital and watching it with my mama. He also now refers to the hot (red) and cold (blue) knobs on the sink as Gnomeo and Juliet. And he loves to talk about featherstone the "mingo" and say "whose your Gnomie now?" The movie received terrible reviews on rotten tomatoes so believe me it's great (no sarcasm, the critics hate all the movies I love and I would consider myself pretty picky).

He also loves to make deals using the same phrases I use. "mommy we can watch a movie and den eat. That sound good?" (imagine a super cute toddler voice going up at the end in imitation of their mommy)

 His very own "Normous" watermelon.
He's still obsessed with cars. All cars, always. That would be his Christiansen blood showing through.
The other day David and I were watching a movie and as the two main characters kissed I teasingly/flirt asked him if that made him want to kiss me like that at which point Davie yells "No!"
Hey now I wasn't even asking you!
He loves to tell me to not talk. Example
I am talking on the phone with someone in the car.
Davie- Mommy, Mommy, Mommy!
Me- What Davie?
Davie- Don't talk mommy, don't talk!
I was singing in the car the other day and Davie's reaction was "what's that noise?"

Davie the fish. He loves swimming.
Within the last week he has started saying "whatever". I'll admit he got that one from me, but I almost always say it in an exasperated way when I'm frustrated. Because of this when Davie uses this word he's usually not being sassy, or at least I don't think so, he's just saying it. For example He'll say "mommy I want juice.... whatever mommy" haha I don't think he's quite figured out how to use it yet. I probably shouldn't encourage him using this word but I can't do anything but laugh/chuckle when it comes out of my 2 year old.
When we went to the pool with David a few weeks ago two very young very pregnant girls, they couldn't have been more than 20, came in and took off their clothes to reveal bikinis. Brave souls. At which point Davie begins to point exclaim "BELLY BUTTONS, BELLY BUTTONS, BIIIGG BELLY BUTTON" (oh my goodness could you be any louder?!) The truth shall be told out of the mouths of babes, no? Thankfully, the pool was busy enough I'm pretty sure the girls didn't hear.

Davie opens, climbs and gets everything he is so smart. Not only that but most of the time neither David or I have taught  him. We always tell him to never wake up Macy or get into things so another one of his common phrases right now if we tell him no or not to do something is "Never, ever, ever, ever!"
My favorite moment recently (and one that is quite embarrassing on my part, you are just lucky I'm ok with self deprecating humor) was when I farted the other day and Davie says "Mommy you did an elephant fart?" Ok seriously it was nothing close to that and then he says "You did a BIG elephant fart??". Um, wow. So the next time you hear an elephant fart you can think of me (insert embarrassed emoticon face) Thank you Davie. Needless to say I was laughing super hard, I have no clue where he got that.

He is a pretty darn good big brother. If I had to name his biggest flaw that isn't age related (hello un-gentle toddler) it's that he LOVES to wake her up. We HATE it and we tell him no every time. One of the most common phrases in our house aside from "be gentle" is "we NEVER want you to wake Macy up EVER" Now you know where he gets the never ever.  We finally put his highchair away. I know he's super old for it, but the kid has never been a good eater (he's SLOWLY getting better) and that coupled with his inability to hold still made putting away the highchair one of the last things I wanted to do.

He fell asleep under this blanket on the floor. Such a silly boy when it comes to sleep.
Anyways he is currently potty training and has had a couple of accident free days! Wow, can I just say I am VERY pleasantly surprised.
Basically he is just a growing boy who cannot get enough life. I just hope I can keep up with him!

I LOVE his sleeping face. It melts my heart.
