10 Months

I figure I might as well make one of these posts on time, especially since I have been behind since the kid was like 5 months old. This last month I feel like Davie has just gotten so big, which is not necessarily true because he has yet to grow out of his 6 month clothing all the way.
He still fits most of his 6 month onsies but he can and does wear 12 month clothing too.
Davie is a pretty good sleeper most of the time he sleeps from 6-8 pm until 7-9 am depending on how the day went and how his naps went. Since I stay up later to do homework I try to feed him around midnight before I go to bed. He doesn't always wake up if I don't go in and feed him but let's face it the kid can use the extra calories. I started dream feeding him when he was 3 months old because once he wakes up it can be difficult at best to get him back to sleep although at night he has gotten much better.
Sometimes at night if I know it's bedtime but he isn't showing signs of slowing I'll tuck him in and let him cry it out. Nowadays that works within about 5- 15 minutes tops but when he was little it could take way more than hour of non-stop crying (going in and trying to calm him down again and again). Davie was a tough baby to figure out, he doesn't yawn or slow down, typically he just starts to get frantic or he will laugh too much and then get fussy; trust me it's weird. After all my nannying he was a mystery I thought I had the baby signs down but he proved me wrong, over and over AND over again.
He doesn't usually like being laid down or going into his bedroom because he knows that means bed. He will make this airy/ breathy winey/ whimper kind of noise and cling to me. No joke the boy lives in eternal paranoia of being put to bed, what a goof!
Davie likes that bottom lip the other day he was sucking on it but it was loud! I thought he had something else but when I looked at his face it was just his lip. This last month he started to clap when you say "hurray!" or "yay!" and if I sing patty cake he will bounce up and down while clapping, the kid has got moves ;)
I will never get over his profile, never, ever, ever!
Davie loves this book, not because of the bright colors or animals but because it's big.
I try to read books to him fairly often at the very least two times a week and I feel like depending on his mood he sits through them pretty good. I usually read until he refuses to sit still, most of the time that is three fourths of the way through one book but every now and then it will be two.
Davie is getting close to walking, he can stand on his own every now and then but if he senses David or I trying to get him to balance on his own he will fall to the ground in a heavy lump. He doesn't do what he doesn't want to do, everything he has learned has been on his own time schedule. It can be frustrating at times because I want him to do things my way but I know his independence will serve him well.
This last month Davie had a low grade fever a couple of times but mostly he had a boogery nose that he couldn't breath out of. A stuffy nose translated into him being a major mouth breather and literally soaking up to three shirts a day, and I mean SOAKING the entire front of the shirt. I was convinced he might be teething but he still has no teeth. The drool was seriously out of this world!
Last but not least (drum roll) I think it is now "officially" safe to say that he has started to keep his food down. He still spits up daily but each time is farther between and less comes out. Can I get a hallelujiah!?!! It's been amazing, I can only hope and pray that baby number two will not have so much spit up, seriously I can't do it again... but I will. I'm just so glad to FINALLY be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Anyways the kid gives us a run for our money but he also makes me laugh daily. I don't think I have laughed at any one person so much in my entire life; Davie is amazing.

An Up to Date Update

Wow, I am behind. I figure I might as well just cut my loses and start updating current events on here as well as the ones from this summer. So what's going on at the Warden household? Here's some of the most recent things in random order.

About two weeks ago (I can't believe it's already been that long) my mom went home after visiting with us for almost 3 weeks, because airfare was so dirt cheap. It was awesome and we miss her already.I made an executive decision posting this picture because my mom say she didn't like it BUT I think its so super cute. My mom has got her cheeser smile going on and Davie just looks cute and silly.
We now own the Blue's Clues chair from Ikea and it is awesome. I love the red!
Before the election I volunteered for the Romney campaign, I haven't ever done that before so it was really cool to get involved. And like many of you out there election night was super stressful and the results was tough. But we are all moving on. My mom joined me making calls for the Romney campaign.
Davie, Man he is nuts! SOOOOOOO, soooo, soooo, sooooooooOOOOO BUSY! He HATES cuddling, like with a passion. In order to give him some grief, because lets face it he definitely dishes it out to us, we will pick him up and hug him tight while talking in a baby-talk voice. His immediate reaction is to start crying and pull away with all his strength. Then when we let loose he almost falls out of our arms. Haha it's fun to do it at night because you can gauge how tired he is by how quickly it takes him to start pulling away when you try to hug/ cuddle him. It's really funny but also really sad :( as a Mom I can't wait until he decides he loves me enough to let me cuddle with him.
She tried to cuddle him.
How dare he be so soft, cute and available and NOT want to cuddle!!! Should be illegal.
Look at him, he's rivited.
However, Davie will sit and watch Blue's Clues for a good 10 minutes at a time sometimes. I know they say not to let your babies watch TV but keep reading this post and you will know why I have to. On a more random note I watched Pocahontas the other day and, WOW reverse racism. I'm not sure I can handle watching it anymore, which is sad because I loved that show as a little girl. Stupid adults and their politically correct agendas.
While my mom was here we all got to head south and visit her family so that was fun.
For Halloween Davie was not Davey Crocket because I could not find an appropriate outfit for him that was the right size, everything was too big. So next year. Instead he was a teddy bear, I was a baby and David was the "sandman". I say "sandman" because all he really agreed to do was dress up in pajamas and a robe, haha.
I am almost done with my third semester at school and I am in the process of testing out of an additional 6 credits. When I met with my school counselor and she realized I hadn't taken English II yet she was floored. Apparently the classes I have been taking are 300 level classes and so she told me I should just test out, uh yes please! The other class I am working on testing out of is a special education class. My counselor said the experience I had being a substitute aid was great work place application so I am testing out. I never thought I would have been able to take 30 CLEP test credits and then test out of more afterwards. One more way to save time AND the $moooo-lah$$
David has finished his third rotation and he earned a high pass. His next rotation is surgery which has me all nervous and excited for him. Surgery is the rotation he is looking forward to the most so it's a big deal! There are only two rotations that take 10 weeks instead of 5, surgery and internal medicine (David did internal medicine first). Thankfully he gets Thanksgiving off and he also gets two weeks off for Christmas/ winter break. We will be celebrating Christmas in Idaho for the first time since 2009 with ALL of David's siblings and all of my family, we are so EXCITED!
As of May I had lost all of my baby weight (27 pounds) and at the end of August I lost the last 10 pounds I have been struggling to get rid of ever since we moved to Ohio. I was honestly starting to think I would never weigh under 130 again but it is sooooo great! I feel best at 120 pounds, all of my clothes fit and some are even too big! David has also recently lost 16 pounds and we are working on being healthier. Not the best picture, but to be honest there wasn't another one that only I was in all by myself haha Davie dominates both of my cameras these days. Also ignore the mess I was experimenting with outfits and hair stuff for our new family picutres.
This is another Davie update. This kid, I seriously cannot figure out all the time sometimes. For example he isn't cuddly or clingy to me when other people are around, which is great I want him to be super social and he is. BUT when I am at home with him and I leave the room to switch out laundry, set up his lunch, get a burp blanket, go potty (alone!), the kid just loses it. Not all the time but most of the time, he is such a boob! It drives me nuts because he literally wants me to sit with him all day. The only solution I have, and it doesn't always work, is Blue's Clues. I would love to sit with him all day but I have chores and homework too. So I either end up with one eye twitching by the end of the day from all the crying, like yesterday, or nothing gets done and guilt slowly eats away my insides.
This was yesterday. Just one look at this picture makes me sad. Some of you are thinking, yeesh Kari how long did you leave him alone in there?! Technically no longer than 10 min because I was in the kitchen and I kept checking back in on him to make sure he didn't have an aneurism.
Another thing I can't figure out is EVERY morning when I go into his room to get him and I lay him down to change him he cries. Every. Morning. Some mornings he cries more than others but at least half the time he cries so hard he turns purple. This is not new! He's been doing it since he was tiny and I just don't get it. And I have tried every trick in the book, being super happy, singing, toys, blah, blah, blah. He does it after nap too. Its a work in progress always but man I hate feeling like I am being mean to him when I let him fuss but I kind of lose either way. Crying.... Accomplish nothing... all day those are my choices. I keep thinking it will get better but I have decided he is a bit of a high needs baby from that perspective. Sorry about the venting but I had to say it on the off chance any one of you ladies have had a similar problem or have any ideas for me! No matter what though I love him and he is the cutest little toe head around.

The only other thing I can think of is I joined a group of ladies and we got together to make a quiet book. Wow, that was time consuming thank goodness for my Mom's help! Pictures of it later. That's all folks!

9 Months

That's him! My little dark haired baby who let me snuggle him all day long is now a white haired cruiser with no future plans of snuggling. This month's picture day made me kind of sad because I knew the next time I took pictures of him his age would be double digits. Man, that first year just comes at you like a train!!!
Just like last month we don't have a lot of new life changes, he is still Mr. Toothless and he hasn't started walking. He loves to jabber sometimes if you mimic what he says he will chat with you for a short time but it isn't usually for very long and it often ends with him giggling, possibly smacking you in the face (because he is waving his arms about in excitement of course), or him deciding to suddenly act like he is timid and smile shyly.
The spitting up hasn't really changed I think he is getting a teeeny bit better, but if anyone asks I say not really because I don't want to jinx it.
He is officially cruising and FAST! The kid can crawl across the room to grab any foreign or forbidden object in 2 seconds. Some of his favorite forbidden objects that I just can't seem to keep out of his reach are my phone, the remote, the iPad, any chord, outlets, paper, plastic and really anything else that is NOT his. Toys are not his favorite and he often cries in loud disagreement when I take forbidden things away and replace them with a mere toy. How dare I!?!!
He loves this little duck but he also LOVES the tag on it, figures :)
He is a happy boy, he LOVES, LOVES, looooovvess people. Serious the kid will let anyone hold him as long as he isn't in the room alone he is happy. I think he has shied away from someone besides me maybe? 3 times... maybe? And those times are only when he is tired, I am really hoping this means nursery will be a piece of cake, but I'm sure I am getting ahead of myself AND I am the singing time lady soooo he won't be away from me that much.
The little outfit he is wearing is one of my favorites. When I pictured my first baby I always thought I would have a girl and I think that in some ways it was because little girls only play with girl baby dolls. Also little boys are never really portrayed as sweet and beautiful but as soon as I held him in my arms I knew he was sweet and beautiful. Cheesy much? Well tooooo bad! I tell him he is beautiful all the time,  of course I always follow up with how handsome he is but I do that more because of social norms not because I think it's true. Davie is a very beautiful baby, and he is ALLL mine.
These pictures by the window make me laugh because I can hear the noises he makes when he gets up to something that he wants to touch. He makes these little ah! noises. It's not quite a yell but it's louder than your average conversation volume. It's pretty cute.
"What's that Mommy? No? I don't know what no means!?"
What did I say he's a pretty boy.
Oooooo, baby corns
This face is the aggghhh noise, but you have to read it with an upward inflection at the end like a question. AaagggGHH!
King of Drool, nobody does it better.
David taught him how to turn the pages in his board books so now when I read regular books why paper pages I have to fight to keep him from "helping" while I read. He loves to turn those pages!
Davie now pulls himself up on everything, that is new last month he was learning how this month he perfected it.
He is always on the move, don't blink or you might lose him.
But don't worry because if you do the top 3 places he could be are #1- heading down the hall to the bathroom #2- heading towards the kitchen or #3 (and this is the one that makes it tricky) being quiet ANYwhere just out of arms reach touching something naughty.
I love it when he gets going faster than his little body can handle and he nose dives. It's sad but he just looks so cute and he just wants sooo bad to get wherever it is he's going he forgets about gravity.
Every night at bedtime I feed him and I just can't believe how much he has grown and how fast it's gone. There are so many cliches in parenting it's impossible not to repeat them because they are all 100% true. Davie is growing up so fast and I already feel like I somehow missed out on it. Thank goodness for digital cameras!

Rainy Zoo

While my Mom came and visited we went to go to the zoo for Boo at the Zoo but it was super wet and we ended up changing our mind before we even got through the gates. Turns out waiting in a long line in drizzly rain to trick or treat with a 9 month old just isn't worth it to me. Thankfully it wasn't really cold and there wasn't a chilly wind. But look how cute my baby was!

Shortly after looking at this face I decided to nix the whole boo at the zoo idea. He wasn't exactly elated. The stroller fabric is an indicator of how wet it was. Instead I took my mom on a personal tour of the Victorian neighborhoods in Toledo. Basically it was awesome and the sun ended up coming out and the day was quite lovely :)
Everyone at the stores we went to loved Davie's little bear suit and nose.
Hope you like this little video, Davie was helping me shop and it made me laugh.
