I figure I might as well make one of these posts on time, especially since I have been behind since the kid was like 5 months old. This last month I feel like Davie has just gotten so big, which is not necessarily true because he has yet to grow out of his 6 month clothing all the way.
He still fits most of his 6 month onsies but he can and does wear 12 month clothing too.
Davie is a pretty good sleeper most of the time he sleeps from 6-8 pm until 7-9 am depending on how the day went and how his naps went. Since I stay up later to do homework I try to feed him around midnight before I go to bed. He doesn't always wake up if I don't go in and feed him but let's face it the kid can use the extra calories. I started dream feeding him when he was 3 months old because once he wakes up it can be difficult at best to get him back to sleep although at night he has gotten much better.
Sometimes at night if I know it's bedtime but he isn't showing signs of slowing I'll tuck him in and let him cry it out. Nowadays that works within about 5- 15 minutes tops but when he was little it could take way more than hour of non-stop crying (going in and trying to calm him down again and again). Davie was a tough baby to figure out, he doesn't yawn or slow down, typically he just starts to get frantic or he will laugh too much and then get fussy; trust me it's weird. After all my nannying he was a mystery I thought I had the baby signs down but he proved me wrong, over and over AND over again.
He doesn't usually like being laid down or going into his bedroom because he knows that means bed. He will make this airy/ breathy winey/ whimper kind of noise and cling to me. No joke the boy lives in eternal paranoia of being put to bed, what a goof!
Davie likes that bottom lip the other day he was sucking on it but it was loud! I thought he had something else but when I looked at his face it was just his lip. This last month he started to clap when you say "hurray!" or "yay!" and if I sing patty cake he will bounce up and down while clapping, the kid has got moves ;)
I will never get over his profile, never, ever, ever!
Davie loves this book, not because of the bright colors or animals but because it's big.
I try to read books to him fairly often at the very least two times a week and I feel like depending on his mood he sits through them pretty good. I usually read until he refuses to sit still, most of the time that is three fourths of the way through one book but every now and then it will be two.
Davie is getting close to walking, he can stand on his own every now and then but if he senses David or I trying to get him to balance on his own he will fall to the ground in a heavy lump. He doesn't do what he doesn't want to do, everything he has learned has been on his own time schedule. It can be frustrating at times because I want him to do things my way but I know his independence will serve him well.
This last month Davie had a low grade fever a couple of times but mostly he had a boogery nose that he couldn't breath out of. A stuffy nose translated into him being a major mouth breather and literally soaking up to three shirts a day, and I mean SOAKING the entire front of the shirt. I was convinced he might be teething but he still has no teeth. The drool was seriously out of this world!
Last but not least (drum roll) I think it is now "officially" safe to say that he has started to keep his food down. He still spits up daily but each time is farther between and less comes out. Can I get a hallelujiah!?!! It's been amazing, I can only hope and pray that baby number two will not have so much spit up, seriously I can't do it again... but I will. I'm just so glad to FINALLY be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Anyways the kid gives us a run for our money but he also makes me laugh daily. I don't think I have laughed at any one person so much in my entire life; Davie is amazing.
