Docapella

David is in a singing group called Docapella. WAY back in early March or late February his group had a concert and I was able to go. The sang "Come Go With Me" and "Africa." It was a show.
Most of the guys in David's group are very animated, and David is NOT. It's pretty funny to watch him next to them because he is such a stone tower and everyone else in the group looks like they have ants in their pants.
I kept telling David he should try to sway or something but he wouldn't go for it.
Here they are singing Africa.

Selling Our Goods

I love Craigslist. Between our tax return and Craigslist we have been able to upgrade several pieces of furniture at out house recently.
Like this iPod. I listed it for $100 and I got $80. We've learned to list things for about $25 more then what we want and then we get what we want.

I got $100 for this. David was against me selling it until I got exactly what I asked for.

This is David's fridge from college and it had been sitting in our front closet and then in our front entrance way since we moved in. I listed it for $80 and I kept getting asked if I would sell it for $50 so I took it off and reposted it for $75 and sold it for $65 a week later. Yay!

This is the last thing we have recently upgraded. The side of the mattress totally exploded out during our move and made the bed lopsided. It was giving David and I back problems/ pains so I decided to call Denver Mattress to see if they could do anything about it. Well long story short we got a BRANS new mattress.
The side is supposed to stop at the first seam
I'm sure you can all relate to having to either sell your goods or waiting for tax returns before you can buy new things. By selling those things we were able to get a new entertainment center which had the shelves of my dreams!
It's only a little bigger than our last TV hutch ;)
We had to saw a hole in the middle of that board right there. It was really nerve wracking for me to let David saw our brand new piece furniture, but it made it so we could put our receiver on the self.
the mess we made just opening the box

It was my Valentines present. David and I went to Ikea and I got to look around a bunch, even though we already knew what I wanted. It was a great Valentines this year.
Then a couple of days later I wanted to take a peek in the TJMaxx here and we found this...

it's basically a HUGE footstool that we can put blankets and extra couch pillows in. We love it. Thank you federal tax return :)

Old News

I have been so bad about keeping up on here lately! I would like to let you know that it is not all my fault. Early February our internet started being really spotty and wouldn't work at random times when I tried to use it, and then it stopped working all together. Reader's Digest version is this- 2 weeks without internet and 5 hours on the phone with At&t later, we switched to Buckeye cable. Our new internet is pretty darn awesome, it is 10 mbps instead of 4 AND it was only $5 more a month. Now when we watch Netflix we can both pause and rewind without a 2 min delay, so I am a happy camper.

I have switched jobs. I am back at Smart Style. It is no match in classy-ness to my previous salon but it has a paycheck and a boss that doesn't treat me like crap. I am happy. David just finished his BIG anatomy test on Friday the 5th. He received a high pass but not the honors he wanted. I'm still VERY impressed but I also feel like if high school AP class grades are worth 1 point more than regular classes then the same is true for medical school. If the class he was taking was a regular college class and not a graduate school class he probably would have gotten honors. Go David! He studied like a mad man and it paid off.

As of February 6th David and I ate the last two Zots from our wedding reception. This is proof
Tah-Dah!
One last sour apple fizzy goodness, it was a pretty momentous occasion.

The weather here has been a multiple personality disorder since the end of January. It will warm up to 40 and 50 degrees, melt 80% of the snow and rain for a week. The next week will drop back down to mid 20's and 30's and just DUMP snow, this has happened at least 4 times. I'm not really complaining but I also don't really know what to expect. In Idaho I know it always snows at LEAST once in April. without fail. every year. It used to bother me. Now I expect it. It is still sooooo funny to me to watch people just lose it when it snows in April, especially when they have lived in Idaho Falls for years on end. It makes me laugh. Get used to it!
We came home to this one night in Feb, this snow drift was a lot bigger than it looks.
On the driver's side it came up past the tire. I had to take an accelerated start just to get over it and into our garage!
When I went to visit my great-grandma, before she died, this is what my car looked like after the ice storm and the ground and the grass and the trees and the road and well you get the point.
As my Dad would say the road was slicker than snot! gross.
This picture is kind of blurry but if you look close you can see four deer. They live on David's medical school campus and I have seen them at various places. It's neat to feel like nature is still so close.
Last but not least I was going to share this picture with my 99 Years Young post but I forgot. This headstone is my Great Grandma's parents. Macie and William Burdsall are the ones we share our wedding anniversary with.
Last but not least-est while I was in Hamilton my grandpa Joe gave me this and I was SO ecstatic! It's Macie and William's original marriage license. I'm hoping to frame it and hang it with their wedding picture on the wall next to our marriage license and picture. This may sound funny but I have always felt some what distant from my Mom's family but sharing their anniversary really helps me feel closer to them.

The Busy Body

This is almost a part two and a prequel to calling the cops. Rewind to August 2010. David and I move into our condo after living with two different friends (more like total strangers we met through church) for two weeks. As we are actively moving our boxes into our house an elderly lady hobbles across the hall, begins telling us that we did the tenants wrong by not letting her and the others know when we would move in. At the time I felt really bad but now looking back all I can think is "Who is she to say who can move in, when they can move in or be upset with them when they do?  She doesn't own the building, she didn't pay our down payment but most of all NONE of this was even her business."

Before Joanne talked to us we got another "warm welcome." Our friends that helped us move in have two little girls that were one and a half and three at the time. The girls were just kind of hanging around (and I might add being pretty good no yelling screaming or even loud giggling) when this old guy comes out of the building gets right up in my face and says "Is this your car? It's not allowed to be parked here! You're moving in?! (Looking RIGHT at our friends kids) You don't have any kids do ya? There's no cats, dogs or kids allowed!"....... I BARELY had a second to answer each of his RUDE questions but I did. All I can say is he is NOT going to be happy when we have a kid. Welcome to the FrEaKiN Building!!
Flash forward to Jan 2010 the week after I was sick. After calling the cops I went to work the next day and that evening some number called me twice in 2 min. The third time I pick up and guess who? It's Joanne. She asks all about what happened with the upstairs neighbor and I tell her, thinking that as the assistant to the condo manager (reading this now it sounds like Dwight on the Office) she might actually be on my side.

I finish up work, pick David up from school and when we get home there is a note on our door. As I begin to read it I quickly realize #1 that it's our classy upstairs neighbor and #2 Joanne told her everything in a way that would upset her. The letter included a phrase that said "I don't have a boyfriend, it's my ex-husband that comes over," "I had lots of visitors last  week, so it could have been anyone who was screaming" and "a little bit of shouting doesn't warrant calling the police." There were so many things to comment on in this letter that I laughed. Like the first comment about whoever is sleeping over not being her boyfriend, haha is that supposed to be better? You are obviously divorced so there must be a reason for it and based on the screlling upstairs I have a feeling that's why.

Lesson learned? DON”T TELL JOANNE ANYTHING, EVER! It happens all the time in places like the one where we live. Joanne is old and board so being a busy body to the condo is her life, the gossiping just adds drama and excitement. The lucky thing about living where we do is that I don't really see my neighbors. I see one or two of them about twice a week, it's a quiet building and we like it.

To that "Girl" in Junior High

This is not any one person it is a combination of things that I went through with several different girls in several different grades. It is kind of a continuation of my Truth post. Another one of the questions on many of the 30 days of truth asked about someone who treated you badly, this is my answer.

Junior high started out great. You and I were new and old friends. We had sleep-overs went shopping and told secrets. It seemed like I never had enough classes with you to keep up with socially. I was never on your block or team, and when I was we didn't have very many classes together. So we wrote notes to one another, lots and lots of notes. Silly notes, serious notes, notes when we were bored and notes when we were excited.

As time went on, I felt like you were always making new friends that I didn't fit in with. Sometimes your new friends were more popular and they would say rude things about me to you when I wasn't around. I cried a lot because you would tell me what they said so cooly I felt like you agreed with them. You didn't stand up for me when I wasn't around. Other times you made friends with people who didn't share our morals. Your new friends would swear and say dirty things in front of me because they thought my shock was funny. I'd say I was afraid of them but honestly whether your new friends were more popular or less, I didn't fit in and you didn't try to help me.

One day we all went to lunch. It was a big group and we had decided that we would walk to lunch. For the first time in a long time I really felt like things were ok and I was getting along with everyone. A couple days later you informed me that several of the girls who I had talked to didn't like me. Not only did they not like me but they said I invited myself to lunch. I remember playing it over and over in my head. Going to lunch was a large group decision that was made right in front of me; how was I not invited?

I was hurt. I felt like every time I talked to you I got a new lesson in how annoying I was to everyone, including you, and you were supposed to be my friend. When you told me these things, my heart would skip a beat and I would feel my chest fill up with warm tingly embarrassment that would spread to my fingers and toes by the time you were done. It was like the rush of adrenaline you get when you fall in your sleep. Only when the nightmare was over I felt more anxious than I had before and I wished I was dreaming so I could wake up.

To this day unless I am personally invited to things, I don't go. And some times if I feel like I was invited just because they don't want to leave me out, I won't go.

You told my secrets to all of our friends. When you told, you told them my secrets out of context and never apologized. I sat alone at lunch for weeks, or I would beg my Mom to come get me so I wouldn't have to. Sometimes I would have her come just so I could eat lunch in the car with her. Even with all this I’m not saying that I was never mean, rude or exclusive to others, this is just a generalization of some of my more sad days in Junior high, which I think everyone can relate to in one way or another.
