Just like every other mom on the planet, I cannot believe my baby is two. He has the best personality, he's super sociable, loves people and is as stubborn as they come. In fact if it wasn't for the the fact that I too am stubborn (David is the "good guy") he would walk all over us and be a regular little tyrant. One the more geeky side Davie was born in the year of the Dragon (so was I) but because of when Chinese New Year starts he's technically a Rabbit. Can I just say I wholly disagree with that categorization! Haha to give you an example of what I mean one of the descriptions of the Rabbit is that they are serene animals. Nothing could be more untrue for Davie, but maybe he will grow into it :) I still think he fits the category of Dragon much better, stubborn, firey, passionate etc. Ok I'm done being geeky... for now.
Some of his accomplishments in the last 6 months include,
1. Loving, pointing at and carrying around cars. It started with any vehicle was a car but he has now added truck and bus to his list.
2. Pointing out the color of objects he is holding or that you have. He is really quite good if he is the one who mentions the color first and I think it's because he has had time to think about it. When we ask him what color something is about 75% of the time he will get it right.
2. Knowing what numbers are counting (a little) and asking for two of something like crackers or cookies. He's also loved the ABC's for quite some time now, depending on his current mood he actually sings a lot of the letters.
The Q doesn't belong to this puzzle but I looked over and saw Davie put it in the correct spot!
Loves a good book. For as wiggle CRAZY busy as he is I'm still amazed he likes books SO much. It really makes no sense because we barely get him to fold his arms at night for his 1 minute long prayer but he will sit through several books at night and then ask for more!
3. A while back he started telling us he was "kuck" when he was in his carseat. I don't think I paid too much attention at first because he was still babbling a lot at the time. When I figured out what he actually meant it was because I turned around to see him lean against his carseat straps while grunting and repeatedly telling me "I kuck, I kuck!" That was when I realized he was telling me he was stuck.

4. He has officially climbed out of the crib, bye-bye freedom mommy and daddy. Bedtime takes closer to an hour and nap time takes about 30 minutes now. I know all toddlers are but Davie too is an especially good little manipulator at bedtime now. He so sweetly will say "sit mommy, sit mommy" when I go to leave the room or "come here mommy". It gets me every time because after I walk out of the room he cries like I broke his heart. What a stinker, darn we love him! I still think he would have made it a while longer if we hadn't had him in a pack'n'play he could climb out of over Christmas vacation. In the end though, I'm thankful we are making the bed transition now though and not after the baby. I can just imagine the kind of pain that transition would have been. Two not sleeping babies. Not good.
5. He absolutely LOVES singing "Jesus wants me for a sunbeam" and "I am a child of God". If he wants to sing them he will say "sunbeam, sunbeam" or "chil Got!" I was actually unaware of how well he knew the song I am a child of God until one of the ladies at our parents church told us she was impressed with how well Davie sang it. Not that I hadn't tried to sing to him, goodness me did I try! Davie was just one of those babies who needed absolute quite when it was time to go to bed so I stopped singing or trying to a long time ago. Now I try to incorporate the songs into his bedtime routine more often. The other night we were singing together and he actually fell asleep shortly after, it was a wonderful mommy moment.
6. He can identify a lot of his family that lives far away. I have really enjoyed that. He knows who my mom and dad are if we talk about them and David's parents. He's a little more rusty on our siblings but there's quite a few. Well except for Mike and LaLa who live here in Toledo near us, he LOVES them.
Picture of him while I bug him and try to keep him from sleeping in the car so that he won't ruin his nap. The next picture isn't the same day, but there is something so beautiful about a sleeping baby.
7. He still HATES to have his diaper changed and can be quite the grouch most mornings. I can tell he is starting figure out the potty thing, my new less-favorite thing he does is tell everyone you are going poopy if you are in the bathroom and someone asks for you. Oh geez!
Must not be held still!!
8. Davie finally has more than 6 teeth! Back in November/ December we noticed he was getting 4 molars almost instantaneously. Thankfully they were on top and bottom so he can actually use them to chew. No sign of his other bottom front teeth so the boy definitely struggles to bite stuff, haha and we call them his little rat teeth.
These are my socks and for some reason Davie always finds them and LOVES to wear them around.
9. Davie LOVE, love, lOvEs his Daddy. He is the BIGGEST daddy's boy around. He pretty much picks David over me any day. It's tough for this first time mom to take but I love how much he loves David. Their relationship gives me some of the greatest joy there is! Overall though he has become much more affectionate lately and will actually come up and randomly give you a hug. So I'll forgive him for the Daddy thing.
Walking with Daddy at the University
10. The day of his second birthday started with him somehow getting a hold of a blue Crayola marker and coloring all over his dresser. Thankfully it came off very easily. Then while David was fixing the chicken for Davie's little party Davie got into the fridge and kidnapped his cake. Luckily that too didn't end in too much of a catastrophe but he had ruined the words on his cake that said Happy Birthday. At first I was really irritated, but it's a great story to tell no? There was one more happening the following day that let us know Davie was taking his mischief to a whole new level. We put him down to nap and he finally calmed, so I checked on him. Well he had actually just ripped up a whole ABC flap board book. I am so glad we keep his books way up high now.
His last free seat on a plane.
I was talking to David the other day and I got all emotional and asked him if he would be mad if I felt like the day Davie was born was better than the day we got married. He wasn't upset at all in fact he sort of agreed. I think when you get married there is a lot less change in your life (in every way) than the day you have your first baby. When you get married you know who you are marrying (hopefully) and what they are like. The day you have a baby, other then the gender, you know almost nothing about them and just about everything in your life changes. Having Davie with David there and bringing him home are some of the best, sweetest memories I have!
